Camper FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have fun?

Our goal is to make sure you have the best time ever! There will be tons of games and activities and you can choose whatever you want. You will make so many friends and hopefully want to come back next year.

Will there be people to play with me?

Absolutely! There will be tons of kids around your age looking for a friend just as much as you. There are also wonderful volunteers who will play games with you and take you on cool adventures. You'll never feel alone!

What if I miss my mom and dad?

Good news is, it's just a day camp! There will be so many acitivites going on that you're mind will be so distracted. But you're always more than welcome to give you parents a call using the camp phone. Everyone gets a little homesick at first but you'll forget about it after the first day!

What is there to eat?

Meal times are full with many options. There is delicious main course for every meal (From Pancakes, French Toast, and Eggs at breakfast, to Pizza, Chicken Parmesan, and Stir-fry for lunch and dinner), we have salad bars, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, and much more. If there is something else you may want, just ask us. There is also a snack cabinent so anytime between meals you want a snack just stop on in.

Parent FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all the volunteers experienced with working with special needs children?

Yes. All of our volunteers must fill out an application listing previous experiences with special needs children. They are also given a training session to help make sure each child feels included and given the same rights as everyone else.

What are some of the techniques and tips taught to the volunteers on interacting with our children?

They are taught to mainly make your children feel wanted. It's important for our volunteers to treat them just like how everyone else is treated and how they would wanna be treated. They are encouraged to look them in the eye and engage in conversation. By looking at their abilities instead of disabilities you can see their true colors. Our volunteers are here to be a friend to your child!

What is the most important thing my child will get out of this camp?

This camp will teach your child so much. Our overall goal is to make your child feel wanted. Sometimes they are overlooked in this world and we want them to feel like everyone else. They will learn team skills and individual skills. We hope they come out smiles and many new friendships.
